Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new PALISADE has been crowned 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, one of the most prestigious honors in the global automotive industry.

The award was announced by the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) jury, comprising 50 independent automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. Vehicles are judged after extensive real-world testing, including long-term driving and comparative evaluations across design, performance, safety, innovation and value.

Hyundai’s flagship three-row SUV earned top recognition for its diverse powertrain lineup, which includes a next-generation hybrid option alongside internal combustion engines. The PALISADE was also praised for its class-leading interior space, premium materials, intuitive technology and a comprehensive suite of safety and convenience features designed for families.

“This recognition reflects everything we aim to deliver at Hyundai — advanced technology, exceptional safety, and outstanding value,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, thanking Hyundai teams, dealers and the NACTOY jury for the achievement.

The newly introduced hybrid variant delivers up to 34 miles per gallon and offers a driving range of more than 600 miles, enhancing efficiency without compromising performance. Hyundai has also expanded the lineup with the XRT PRO off-road trim, targeting adventure-focused customers.

PALISADE’s strong product appeal translated into commercial success in the U.S. market, where the model recorded record-breaking sales in 2025, with retail sales increasing by 17 percent and total sales up 13 percent year-on-year.

NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert said the PALISADE “defines the family vehicle for the 21st century,” citing its spacious interior, driving dynamics and advanced technology.

Founded in 1994, NACTOY is the longest-running independent new-vehicle awards program in North America and is widely regarded as one of the most credible benchmarks of automotive excellence.
