Kathmandu, February 11 – The Nepal–Qatar Joint Business Council (JBC), formed to institutionalize and strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations between Nepal and Qatar, has successfully concluded its meeting in Kathmandu.
The meeting, held in Chandragiri, is expected to further elevate economic cooperation between the two countries by fostering structured dialogue and deeper private-sector engagement.
The agreement to establish the Joint Business Council was signed in April 2024 during the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, to Nepal. The JBC serves as a formal platform to promote continuous dialogue, business partnerships, and direct engagement between the private sectors of both nations.
During the meeting, representatives from the private sectors of Nepal and Qatar held comprehensive discussions on promoting investment, expanding bilateral trade, enhancing business-to-business (B2B) collaboration, and strengthening government-to-government (G2G) coordination.
Participants expressed strong commitment to identifying new investment opportunities in key sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, energy, agriculture, and manufacturing. They also emphasized the need to facilitate smoother regulatory processes, improve information exchange, and encourage joint ventures to maximize mutual benefits.
The Council reaffirmed its shared objective of creating a favorable business environment that would attract Qatari investment to Nepal while also supporting Nepali entrepreneurs in exploring opportunities in Qatar.
The meeting concluded with optimism that the institutional mechanism of the JBC would play a vital role in deepening economic ties and translating diplomatic goodwill into tangible business outcomes.
