Indonesia Celebrates 81st Independence Day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, August 17, 2026 — The Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal marked the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia with a flag hoisting ceremony and special programme at the IME Complex, Panipokhari, today.
At the event, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal, who is also Chairman of IME Group and Immediate Past President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), unfurled Indonesia’s national flag.
Speaking at the event, Dhakal reflected on the steadily growing friendship between Nepal and Indonesia since the two countries formally established diplomatic relations in 1960. He noted that bilateral ties have continued to strengthen, particularly in trade, tourism and cultural exchange.
The special programmes organised for Independence Day reflected Indonesia’s economic, social and cult .
